new geometric drawings

I have a thing for geometry and have been recently going back to exploring how it is used in artistic applications and there is no end to it, of course Islamic art has presice geometic patterns and these are beautiful, however I tend to like the more random ways it can be applied. I have been playing around with some drawings on paper and in illustrator using the Delauney triangulation and Voronoi diagram ideas, I can not see this ending any time soon. Anyway, here are two drawings I did recently in illustrator based on these idea. If you like this sort of thing and want to see the absolute master of geometric drawing, look no further than this guy

as finished as it's going to get.

here's another one, a work in progress with a long way to go

Work in progress , expanding on the simple on above

a bit more progress

and a few hours later.....

these type of drawings take on a life of their own, they go where they want, that's fine by me.

Collages

This has been a tricky one really, having only the use of one arm since a shoulder operation all art is proving difficult and it is quite frustrating.. these are workshop pieces for a postcard design assignment, the red ones I am not happy with at all ( which is why I am only posting three) I did about 6 of these and they just show the frustration, pain and whatnot and are perhaps a little too harsh.. I don't know, I am just not happy with them anyway.

might redo this one alltogether
the black and white ones I made up at home. I also feel that not having the time constraints of class make it easier to work in a more relaxed way.. of course, and this is true for everyone I would think.
Anyway, here are a few collages, not my finest hour but, then again I am the one armed bandit and here they are.

Life Drawing

I had never done life drawing before this year and am enjoying it very much, here are two of my drawings. Before starting this course I am sad to say that I have not drawn for too many years but it is coming back to me quite well I think, I am making decent progress and can only get better.

Live to ride

I am a borderline cycling obsessive and I have been doing a load of bike themed stuff lately, must be the... weather... well, it was....
so today I made this and I am still chuckling to myself. Stay tuned for a few equally ridiculous variations on the theme.

get it here for the walls or here as a wearable parody.

Protest posters

check out the post at design you trust by hitting the image above with info on how to buy the full size posters.

Also look out for posters here also

I have done protest art for many years and mostly in the form of collage and mixed media, graphic design gives a more classic way of using this topic as protest and propaganda art always took the form of bold easy to understand and ironically beautiful to look at posters.

Oh So Very Retro

I am currently working on a set of designs for caterers, chefs, restaurants and food producers. These will include business cards, menus, logos, letterhead, packaging for products, promotioal materials and so on and so forth.
Well I just happen to love diners, a lot and they have been sorely missed since I left the US and live now in The Land Without Diners, very sad for me but I digress....
This has led me to work on a very diner themed set of ideas to fill the void a little. The turquoise colours, the red of ketchup, pink of bacn and so forth.
The Sunny Side Up Diner concept is a lovely little design I think and it is infinitely workable for many applications.
See what some of them look like on a finished product.
follow updates on twitter for new designs as they come.
Bacon might be next on the horizon.

what is in the pipeline right now

At the moment I am in the process of starting my own shop, ( it will be damn awesome if not perfect, the ideal shop perfect in every way the best one in the history of life, and all that )
So I have been reworking some older designs and coming up with a good starting line up and have kicked the ball off by starting a zazzle store, just to work out my ideas on paper, as it were, get an idea of how things will look, and, well honestly to sell a few things to raise the money to open the real deal.
I qam looking to get it to the point where I am incorporating my photographs and other art as well and perhaps other people's stuff too, but right now I just want to get it off the ground and see where it goes.
Here are a couple of designs I have done, hope you like and please leave as many comments as you like, I'd love to hear what people think of this stuff.
